I just spent some time stripping the driver's side fender... also full of filler. It was literally round like a mellon in spots. I still have to do the roof, driver's side door, passenger side door and fender.

Since last post, I have managed to strip the driver's door and pick up a replacement 1/4 panel. The deck lid, passenger side 1/4 and fender are down to the primer from previous work. I just need to take them to bare metal. The roof and passenger side door need the paint and primer underneath removed. Then it will be time to start pulling the interior out...

Finally back at it today... more filler where it wasn't needed. Uncovered a dent in the roof that was just stuffed with filler. More evidence of why the paint failed. The primer was done in heavy coats, and looks like it was recoated before the first coat cured. It was delaminating, I could see obvious layers as I went. It was also very brittle.

I managed to get the passenger side door and fender completely stripped. And most of the quarter panel, plus a small section of the roof. The heat is brutal, but I need to have it ready for the drier air this fall. (Body and paint friendly weather)

I was on pace to get the roof completely stripped today... then equipment failure. The pad that my stripping discs stick to came apart about two hours in this morning. I knew it was worn, was trying to make it last a little longer.

I had that happen to my orbital sander awhile back..... it was cheaper to replace the sander than it was to order a new pad......

Yeah, this is actually a pad that threads on to my grinder/buffer. Then I use 40 grit discs, stick on type.

I have nearly gone through a box of discs, the primer on this car is like sanding concrete.

The roof is done, the rest has to be hand sanded and sandblasted. Already started the body work on the passenger side quarter and the deck lid. Time to get crackin'
